Brandy Dunaway, LPC
“We think that the point is to pass the test or overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.”
– Pema Chodron
Brandy is an AZ Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor and the owner of Brandy Dunaway Therapy. Brandy is passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges and strengthen the relationships that matter most. With specialized training in couples and trauma, she understands that beginning therapy can sometimes feel overwhelming. Her goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where clients feel supported from the very first session.
In the early stages of therapy, Brandy focuses on building trust and connection. This foundation helps make the healing process more comfortable and meaningful—whether clients come in as individuals, couples, or families. She approaches therapy with curiosity and care, paying attention to what keeps people feeling “stuck” while also recognizing and highlighting their strengths and progress.
Clients often share that they value the opportunity to speak openly in sessions and appreciate Brandy’s balanced perspective, which helps them see their challenges in new ways. She blends empathy, authenticity, humor, and accountability to create a collaborative experience. Along the way, she equips clients with strategies for healthier communication, tools to move past old patterns, and skills to nurture closeness.
Brandy utilizes attachment-based, trauma-informed and mindfulness approaches to explore behavioral patterns, identify emotional needs, and process past/present hardships. You will learn more about yourself, your relationships, communication, and shift unhealthy practices that are keeping you from moving forward.
Brandy is trained in supporting couples, blended families, parents, and individuals navigating challenges such as complex trauma, betrayal, infidelity, family struggles, and women’s issues. Brandy has advanced training in EMDR Therapy for trauma recovery as well as advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT).
One of Brandy’s greatest joys as a therapist is witnessing the transformation that happens when people feel truly seen and supported. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside her clients as they move toward greater empowerment, connection, and authenticity.
