Daniel Parke, LCSW

"Your task is not to seek love, but to merely seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it"

-Rumi

Trauma Informed:

Daniel works with individuals (ages 14 and up) to heal from various forms of relationship trauma.  Since the impact of these experiences can show up as symptoms of depression and anxiety, he also introduces various skills to help regulate challenging thoughts, emotions and physical sensations.  In addition, he draws on therapeutic approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to promote healing from the impact of past experiences.  He collaborates with each individual in choosing the approach that will most benefit them.

Relationship Focused:

Daniel also works with couples who want to de-escalate conflict, resolve patterns of disconnection and increase intimacy and harmony.  He helps couples become more self aware of personal and relationship patterns, guides them in expressing themselves in a way that invites empathy and connection, and encourages listening that promotes understanding and support.  With enhanced trust and vulnerability, the couple is increasingly equipped to address sensitive topics in a more productive and attuned manner.  Daniel utilizes Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) which guides his efforts to be of support.

Approach:

Trusting in the innate wisdom of each individual, Daniel focuses on validating others’ experiences and perspectives, honoring their strengths and successes, encouraging compassion for themselves and others, and asking questions that help to elicit self-awareness and insight.  He collaborates with each individual and couple in the use of resources that promote enhanced well-being.

Experience:

Daniel has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Arizona since 2006, after having received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Brigham Young University in 2003.  He then worked at an outdoor-based therapy program for teens, young adults and their parents.  He offered support to these families for over twelve years either as a counselor, clinical coordinator or clinical supervisor.  Daniel has provided counseling to individuals and couples, in various outpatient settings, for over 10 years.

Personal Life:

One of Daniel’s favorite things to do is having meaningful conversations with his wife, Ginger, whom he has been married to for over twenty-three years.  He also values spending time with his daughter and three sons.  In addition, he enjoys meditation, running, lifting weights, and watching sports highlights.  He also values reading books and listening to podcasts related to improving his role as a counselor and enhancing his health and relationships.
